You are sure of a warm welcome at Grove Street Methodist Church. The first building was erected in 1822 and replaced with the current impresive structure in 1880. Throughout its long history, Grove Street has played an important part in the community life of Retford. With a capacity of up to 600 seats it has one of the biggest and best auditoriums in the town and hosts a number of events ranging from brass band concerts to choral presentation.
Over the years the building has been added to and modified to suit the changing needs of the congregation and the many and varied groups that meet on the premises. Apart from Sunday Services at 10.45am, the church membership organise and run Tuesday Ladies group with guest speakers, Bright Hour Fellowship, Thursday Lunches, Parent and Toddlers and many other activities throughout the year.
Outside agencies using the premises include Retford Historical & Archaeological Society, Craft groups, Rattlejack Morris Dancing, Retirement group, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.
All this makes Grove Street a lively church seeking to share the message of Christ to all in the community as well as serving the needs of that community.
